Building & Groundworks
Building relates to the act of constructing or making a temporary or permanent structure within the context of the built environment. It might include extensions to existing homes or conversions of structures such as garages or outbuildings.
Groundworks relates to the work done to prepare sub-surfaces for the start of construction work. It is usually the first stage in construction projects after demolition or site clearance, and may include concreate bases, drainage and soakaways, foundations and oversites.
Our building and groundworks services extend to digger and dumper operations.
Case Study
The brief was to create a family home from an existing three-bedroom 1920s farmhouse by adding a two-storey side extension with rear-veranda and double garage with space above to accommodate an office/gym/studio, alongside a hard landscaping plan to form adequate parking.
The project involved renovations to the existing building which included replacing the old roof, adding en-suites to two of the existing bedrooms, remodelling the kitchen and living spaces to create a more open plan layout, and replacing all the existing windows and doors.
The installation of bi-fold doors from the main living space allowed access onto a new full width decked veranda with steps down onto a patio and path leading into the garden, which could also be accessed from the kitchen providing a fabulous outdoor entertaining area.
The extension allowed for an additional two bedrooms, large living room, office and porch and the enlargement of a further bedroom to accommodate an en-suite shower room.
As part of the overall management of the project, we contracted and liaised with the necessary electrical, plastering and plumbing trades people.
