Project Management

Project Management in the context of the built environment relates to the person responsible for the day-to-day management of a building project, who will manage the overall build and project team as if they were the client.

COOPER BUILDING SERVICES

The benefit is reduced stress, tighter control over materials and budget, project scope and timescales, and ultimately sustainability.

The project manager should be appointed as early as possible in the development of the project so they can see the project through from initiation (concept and definition) to planning, execution, monitoring (control) and finally completion (handover).

We offer full project management services on all works or can take on the project management of larger projects such as house modernisations, home renovations and self-builds.

Case Study

We were contracted to provide full project management of the renovation and modernisation of a 17th Century cottage, including a two-story rear extension and separate garage. We liaised with the client from the early stages and managed the project through to client handover.

The project involved site clearance, the demolition of a rear lean-to, excavation of foundations and oversite, construction of rear extension and remodelling of the existing internal space. During the project the existing roof was replaced, as well as the existing floors and ceilings.

New bespoke timber side-sliding windows were installed throughout, alongside a fully fitted kitchen, utility room and bathroom supported by new plumbing and electrics.

We reseeded the entire lawn, added a new gravel driveway, timber sleeper retaining wall around a gravelled seating area and installed a featheredge fence to complete the external landscape.

As part of the overall management of the project, we contracted and liaised with the necessary electrical, plastering and plumbing trades people.
