In April 2019, we were approached by the Trustees to help tidy up the front of the museum, ready for their Easter opening. The project was to replace four rotten planters with new tongue and grooved ones.

Once the old planters and excess soil were removed, the remaining bare soil was wrapped in a breathable membrane. Treated tongue and grooved timber boards were measured and cut to fit over the membrane, then glued and screwed together for a perfect fit.

“Wow, they look absolutely fantastic, what a brilliant job! We received lots of compliments on how nice the planters looked. Thank you so much Ben.”

The roof of the museum was also damaged during the strong winds this February. Several tiles were blown off leaving the felt exposed to further wind and rain. New replacement tiles were ordered and fixed into place to ensure the building was protected from further damage.

“As a registered charity, we rely mostly on self-funding through admission charges and retail sales. Ben was happy to offer his services on a volunteer basis and with the exception of the boards and tiles, paid for by the museum, he provided the other materials and labour required.”
