In celebration of The Queen’s 70 years of Service, we have ordered a native Quercus robur (English Oak) and will ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’. Our tree will be added to the Queen’s Green Canopy map and marked with a commemorative plaque.

“It was important for us to find a nursery where our tree had been sourced and grown here in the UK. Barcham Tree Specialists met our initial criteria but as they are also actively reducing their environmental impact, and moving away from chemical control of pest and disease, they were our first choice.”

Making our story even more unique, Barcham is also a specialist grower to HRH Her Majesty The Queen. They also have a Royal Warrant of Appointment to the Prince of Wales, who is Patron of The Queen’s Green Canopy. With decades of experience supporting sustainability initiatives, Prince Charles says:

“Trees and woodlands have a profound significance for us all – their steadfast and reassuring presence a reminder of our long serving Sovereign and her enduring dedication. Let us ensure that in her name we can now protect and strengthen this wonderful living Canopy for the next seventy years and, hopefully, way beyond.”

The English Oak holds a special place in our culture, history and hearts. A native species, it supports more life than any other tree species in the UK and is host to hundreds of insect species. Many birds and mammals rely on the Oak as an important food source.

“We will collect our tree in September or October combining its collection with visiting friends and family. Once planted, it will contribute to climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide through photosynthesis and therefore compensate for the emissions resulting from our journey.”
